Brandon Hall, CEO of Hall CPA PLLC spent time at both PWC and EY early in his career. He went full-time into his company in September 2016 and in October 2016 was a guest on the Bigger Pockets Podcast which built huge awareness for his CPA firm. Brandon’s firm is 100% virtual and only works with real estate investors, real estate syndications, and real estate funds. Brandon has hired employees all around the U.S.; his first full-time hire was in June 2017 and the firm currently has 12 full-time employees. Brandon spoke at the 2017 and 2018 MidAtlantic Summit, a real estate summit for accredited investors, as well as real estate events in NYC, Washington DC, Baltimore, MD, and Raleigh, NC. Brandon has also been a guest speaker at various CPA firms to discuss culture building and the future of accounting firms.
What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?
I am a Director in A Hero’s Home, a non-profit dedicated to rehabbing properties and gifting them to veterans. This is a cool initiative because it was formed totally online (none of the directors have met in person) between heavy contributors to a real estate online platform called BiggerPockets
- Favorite books/websites/speakers that you find influential:
- “Traction,” by Gino Wickman
- “It’s Not Rocket Science,” by Dave Anderson
- “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” by Dale Carnegie
- Speakers: Jason Blumer, Ron Baker, Gary Vaynerchuk
- Websites: www.Biggerpockets.com, www.cpapracticeadvisor.com, www.taxadvisor.com, www.thriveal.com
- What do you see yourself doing professionally in 10 years? In ten years I see myself as the owner of a thriving CPA firm that is quite different than a standard traditional CPA firm. One that is 100% virtual, boasts a core competency in technology solutions, and focuses on creating an amazing client experience that is unmatched by any other CPA firm out there. I plan on expanding into additional niches (currently we’re focused on real estate) and unseating large regional CPA firms from their thrones.
- What accounting conferences do you normally attend? I send my employees to accounting technology conferences but I tend to go to real estate conferences instead.
- What websites/magazines do you use to keep up on news of the accounting profession? Journal of Accountancy, CPA Practice Advisor, The Tax Advisor
